LUCA MARTIAL

Injury Prevention Consultant

Of french and cambodian origins, Luca was born and raised his whole life in Cambodia, Asia. He began his sporting career at 5 years old with soccer, where he won the club’s MVP award 2 years in a row. Years later, he discovered a passion for rugby and played the sport until reaching university. He had the chance to participate in multiple international rugby 7s tournaments in Singapore and Hong Kong as co- captain and captain of his team. To break through as a rugby player, Luca used olympic weightlifting as a means of improving his performance. After several injuries, a disc herniation stopped him from continuing to play rugby. 2 years later, olympic weightlifting caused him a second disc herniation.

His coaching career started at 16 years old, when he took charge of U- 11, U-13 and U-15 rugby teams on multiple occasions. With such a deep passion for sports, it was only logical for him to pursue an Exercise Science degree at Concordia University. He then began to accumulate experience as a strength & conditioning coach through internships with the National Sports Institute of Quebec, the French National Development team in Toulouse, the Montreal Alouettes and the Concordia Stingers. This allowed him to obtain positions with Rugby Canada’s Academy, the PERFORM Centre and the youth athletic development program at Concordia.

His engagement with Pro Evolution Coaching was a natural evolution towards mutual aid and youth assistance. Thanks to his unusual personal background, he believes that he can bring an edge to all his athletes.
